Bio:

Ron Elving is Senior Editor and Correspondent on the Washington Desk for NPR, where he contributes on air and online as a news analyst.  He is a regular on the NPR Politics Podcast, a cast member for the podcast’s live shows and the host of the Facebook/YouTube series “Ron’s Office Hours.”  He has appeared on PBS, CNN and MSNBC.

Ron is also a Professorial Lecturer in the School of Public Affairs at American University.  Previously an adjunct professor in both the SPA and the School of Communication, he received the AU Outstanding Teacher Award for adjunct faculty in 2016. 

Before coming to NPR in 1999, Ron was the political editor for USA Today and for Congressional Quarterly.  He has contributed chapters in recent years to academic studies on Congress, politics and the media.  His earlier book, Conflict and Compromise: How Congress Makes the Law, was published by Simon & Schuster.
